My Awesome 4th Grade Year
Hi. My name is Emma. I'm going to tell some things about myself. I'm in fourth grade. Here, I will tell you a little bit about myself. My favorite subject is social studies. I love reading, too. My favorite book series is Harry Potter, by J.K. Rowling. I like all the school projects in social studies. They are so interesting and fun.
We were working on the Iditarod race, and studying it. We did a summary of a story called Akiak. She is a dog that is racing in the Iditarod race. Now, we are working on a project that can teach you about the Iditarod. We did an art project. I worked with Jenna and Emily in my class. It is really fun! We had a poster board with terminology and cool facts. Then, we made a snowy ground, and we made cute little dogs, and a sled. We tied yarn to the dogs like a harness. Jenna’s dog has the golden harness. Her dog was a star lead dog!
We did a cup activity, with the three people at our table, and we had to lift the cup and create a tower. Of course, we didn’t lift them with our hands. My teacher, Ms. Wolfe, she tied four pieces of yarn to one rubber band. We had to get the band around the cup, only by pulling the strings. On the first time, Brianna, at my table, had to pull 2 strings. I and Jonah only pulled one. We pulled it far down the cup and lifted it up and stacked it that way. It was fun!
I like my classmates, they are good sports, and nice. You can’t exactly explain how they act, in a good way. Sometimes, we act like a bunch of weirdo’s, in the very best way you can think of. We all are friends, and we can work together. Only because we are, “TEAM WOLF! Aroooooo!”
World Café activity
We did a world café e waater activity, and my partners were Sneha and Brianna. We worked on a science poster about air pressure. Brianna sat at my table, and informed other people going around. Me and Sneha went around, collecting cool facts abot everyone elses poster. I took notes about humidity, thermometers, the water cycle, wind, and precipitation. I found a lot of facts about these things.
We learned songs that helped us remember our reading stradigies. We learned a visualizing song, a questioning song, a inferring song, a connecting song, and a summarizing song. At the end of the questioning song, Mrs. Rowland (my music teacher) and Ms. Wolfe were laughing really hard, because they were recording us and watched us after we finished. I think it is because we were all swaying when we were singing, and it was pretty hard not too.
This is a picture of me, my BFF Jenna (http://jennap4.weebly.com), and my sister Hanna (http://hanna4.weebly.com). We were reading the book “Where’s Waldo!”
Our class got iPads! I was so happy and excited when I found out. We are using them for, math, social studies, art, music, reading, you name it! I am so happy that we got iPads! It will be fun to learn, not that it wasn't before.
We did a big research project...my favorite!!!!!!!!!! We researched famous Hispanics or Latino's, and I chose Salma Hayek. we have this thing called product cards, and they are these cards that have projects to choose form. I did a video, where I dressed up like Salma Hayek, and my, friend, Jenna, was my interveiwer. I was answering questions that Jenna asked. I wrote the script, so it was counted as my project. The way I dressed up was I put on makeup, a dress, and a brown wig. I also spoke in a Mexican accent.
Well, since we woeked really hard on our projects, we got rewarded. We got to celebrate Day Of The Dead at school. For those who do not know what that is, it is a Mexican holiday. In Mexico, it is celebrating on Thursday, November 1 to Friday, November 2. It is when you celebrate your loved ones that died. Some people think the sugar skulls are supposed to be scary, but, no, those people are wrong. It is supposed to be happy, and colorful! Here is me and my class.
Also, here is my teacher! :)
Pretty awesome, right?
